Frequently asked questions
Why one property at a time?+
Every lot gets its own auction date, its own marketing and the full attention of buyers. Nothing gets lost in a catalogue of a hundred lots.
What types of property do you sell?+
All types: houses, flats, land, farms, commercial property, mixed use buildings and development sites, anywhere in the UK.
Does it cost anything to register?+
No. Registering and bidding are free. If you win, you pay a deposit of 10% of the purchase price (minimum £5,000) and a buyer's fee of £1,500 plus VAT.
How long does approval take?+
Usually one working day after you upload your ID and proof of address. Register early so you are ready when bidding opens.
What is the difference between the guide price and the reserve?+
The guide price is an indication of what the seller expects. The reserve is the confidential lowest price they will accept. We show whether the reserve has been met, never the amount.
What happens if someone bids in the last few seconds?+
The clock goes back up to 5 minutes. Bidding only ends when nobody has bid for 5 minutes.
Can I pull out after I win?+
No. The winning bid is a binding contract, just like exchanging contracts. That is why you should read the legal pack and arrange your money before you bid.
How much is the deposit?+
10% of the purchase price (minimum £5,000), payable within 24 hours of the end of the auction.
Can I bid by phone?+
Yes. Contact us before the auction to arrange it. You still need to be registered and approved.
Can I buy before the auction?+
Sometimes. Some sellers will consider an offer before the auction. Make your offer through the contact form and we will pass it on.
I want to sell. How quickly can my property go to auction?+
Once the legal pack is ready, we can usually set a date within a few weeks. See the Sell at auction page.
